Reminders:

Tomorrow will be our last event at the Corporate Center!

NO TUESDAY NIGHT TWILIGHTS ON August 10th!

We will return again for the following dates at the fairgrounds:

August 17, 24, 31 at the Fairgrounds

Sept 7th at the Fairgrounds

The Corporate Center Crits are permitted as a Competitive event. But I am hearing that the NCNCA might not agree with the upgrade points, because we do not have the means to record or keep track of the top 10 placing during the race, I have emailed the person in charge and am waiting to hear back.  Please remember where you placed (top 10) so I can report the information if needed.  If they don’t agree, I’m really sorry, I am trying!

August 31st, will be a  “FREE Juniors race”!  So gather up all those juniors and come race for free (8/31/10 only), the first race only!

September 7th, free pasta feed provided by Riviera Restaurant, thank you GP!

STUFF:

Race Results and Stats has been updated.

Upgrade Points status:

Got this direct from Larry Nolan (in charge of NCNCA upgrades)

  1. Cat 5 to 4 upgrades: I am using all of the Tuesday's as experience for upgrades, and still requiring 10 races/ clinics

  2. All other (higher category) upgrades: I am only using USA Cycling permitted events (results go up to verify)

The TNTs have donated $250.00 to the SCBC to help their continued efforts in the cycling community.

Congratulations to Ryan Eastman (All-Sport Team Swift), he has officially signed with Trek-Livestrong for the 2011 season.  Ryan is still in Europe and we hope to see him at the Sept. 7th TNT!  We’re all so very proud of you Ryan!

Times-7 Sport:

On 8/24, Mark Davis from Times-7 Sport will arrive at the fairgrounds at 4:30‘ish to set racers up with timing brackets and chips as a test for potential use by the NCNCA starting next season.  He will try to set everyone up prior to each race and collect the brackets after the races.

Volunteers:

Thank you to all that volunteer, the fairgrounds is a bit easier, here’s what we need:

4 Marshals

4 Setup

4 Teardown

Kids Event:

Mike Charleton and I will be discussing a kids event for the 9/7 crits.  Something simple, fun and quick (15 minutes), some idea’s:

kids event in-between the 4/5 and 3/4 race:

3 groups:

  1. 1)tricycles/training wheels from the archway to the finish line

  2. 2)kids up to 8 years old, 1/2 (half) a lap start at finish to registration heading west and a quick right turn back on course

  3. 3)9-14 year olds, one lap starting at the finish line

RACING ETIQUETTE / SPORTSMANSHIP (please read):

No one wants to crash, no one wants to be the cause of someone else crashing.  But please remember that even though to some the Tuesday Night Twilights are more than just training races, that is and always has been what they are.  A means for Juniors, women U23’s, U25’s, Cat 4,5,3’s, ( 2, 1’s and Pro’s, I’m sure these categories are always learning ;)) to learn how to race, be in a pack, understand strategy,  how to take corners, how to bridge gaps, how to be part of the cycling family and get experience racing .

Adrenaline is not only high while  you are racing but after the race as well.  Please try to shake it off, calm down, think about what is said before it’s said, and remember that young people are impressionable, and parents are present, and ‘everyone’ is learning.

If you see that someone might benefit from your experience as a racer, please help that person understand what they could potentially do better, positive feedback goes a long way, much more then negative, and try to do it at the appropriate time.  And please try to keep in mind that you were there once too, and maybe you made the exact same mistake once (or twice) and that the Tuesday Night Twilights was actually a venue that you used to get better at racing, to gain experience and not make the same mistake.

Thanks,

~Ronnie

On 8/24, Michael Lynch and Mark Davis from Times-7 Sport set nearly all of you up with ‘surf board’ looking timing chips, thank you for allowing them the time to do this and to help them in their testing process.  Also, I did let them know that several of you mentioned concerns that their equipment wasn’t coned off (they normally do have the equipment more protected), it was an oversight and they thanked you all for taking notice and being careful.  I have all of the results, actually got them on Tuesday night but sorry that I didn’t have time to work on getting them out to all of you.
